The Rundown

The biggest watch news, new releases, and tool watch updates from this week.

Watches and Wonders 2026 Closes with Record Attendance in Geneva

The world's largest luxury watch fair wrapped up this week in Geneva with nearly 60,000 visitors walking through the doors. Sixty six brands were on display, making it one of the most significant years in the event's history. What made this edition stand out was a rare alignment of milestones. Rolex marked a century of the Oyster case. Patek Philippe celebrated fifty years of the Nautilus. Hublot reached twenty years of the Big Bang. When the most iconic names in watchmaking are reflecting on their history while pushing forward at the same time, the result is a showcase that collectors, enthusiasts, and watch lovers should not ignore.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 Centennial Edition Arrives at $9,650

Rolex chose the Oyster's hundredth anniversary to release a refined update to the Oyster Perpetual 41. Powered by the in house Calibre 3230 movement with approximately 70 hours of power reserve, this is a watch that represents everything Rolex does well. Clean design, reliable engineering, and a timeless silhouette that works on any wrist. At $9,650, it sits in a sweet spot for collectors looking for a versatile everyday tool watch. There are no gimmicks here. Just a brand letting the craftsmanship speak for itself. For anyone who wears a Rolex daily, this is the kind of release that pairs perfectly with a premium rubber strap or a clean single pass nylon band.

Grand Seiko Releases Its First Properly Sized Dive Watch

Grand Seiko may have just made the most exciting dive watch announcement of the year. The new U.F.A Ushio Diver is the brand's first diver under 44mm wide and under 14mm thick. At 40.8mm across and 12.8mm in height, it finally sits on the wrist the way a modern dive watch should. Available in blue and green colorways at $12,800, this watch is built for serious enthusiasts who want Grand Seiko finishing on a case that does not feel oversized. Seiko has dominated the entry level and mid range dive watch space for decades. This release is a clear statement that Grand Seiko belongs in the luxury dive watch conversation as well. A watch like this deserves a strap that matches its precision, whether that's a fitted rubber strap for water use or a field strap for everyday wear.

Patek Philippe Cubitus Perpetual Calendar Debuts in Platinum

Patek Philippe brought twenty new models to Geneva this week, but the Cubitus Perpetual Calendar in platinum stole the conversation. Inside is a completely new square format movement called the Caliber 28 28 Q SQU. It packs 313 individual components into a case that measures just over 5mm thick. The level of engineering required to fit a perpetual calendar complication into that space is remarkable. Patek also unveiled four limited edition Nautilus references to celebrate the collection's fiftieth anniversary. No flashy redesigns. Just refined executions that honor the legacy. For collectors tracking high end watch releases, this week was one to remember.

From the Bench

Behind the scenes at Arklin. What we are building, testing, and getting ready to ship.

We are counting down the days over here. The full Arklin product lineup is currently in manufacturing and we expect to have everything in hand within the next two weeks. That means the Field Strap, Field Pro, Vector Rubber, Apex FKM, Traverse Watch Roll, and the Signature Series collaboration with Andy are all about to go from concept to reality.

Every product in our collection was designed with one principle in mind. The watch strap should complement the watch, not compete with it. From premium FKM rubber and rugged nylon to brushed stainless steel hardware, every material and every detail was chosen specifically for tool watch enthusiasts, collectors, and daily wearers who notice the details that others miss.

Whether you wear a dive watch, a field watch, a pilot watch, or a GMT, Arklin straps are built to match the purpose and precision of the watches they sit on. We cannot wait to get these into your hands.

Stay tuned. The first drop is coming soon.
